Hey Dave!

Hello Blog People!      Welcome to another recap of Ellie's week. Again, not super exciting, but I have some things I can talk about. So let's go! :)  First off, we had 10 days of prayer meetings every day on Friday, the 26th, and went through the whole week. It was nice to get together with people, listen to speakers and pray together for about an hour. All of the speakers spoke in Italian, but we were given translation so we could understand what was being said. My little worship team (made up of me, Natalie, and Brianna) did music a few times. I love playing with them, and it added another fun element to the spiritual moments.       Last weekend was really nice. On Saturday I went out to a coffee shop with my roommates and took some pictures together in Florence. I love spending time with them. And the pictures turned out great! (One is the cover pic for this post). Then Sunday I got to sit outside in my hammock for the first time in a wh...

Sunsets are my favorite! Hello Blog People!      I have completed another week of school and got to travel to another town in Italy. It was a pretty typical week, but I learned a bit and it has been good. I can’t wait to tell you about it.       Last Friday, since we didn’t have classes, my friends and I decided to show some of the newer kids around Florence. Our first stop was getting coffee and a coffee shop by the Arno. And guess what! They had iced coffee there! That was exciting, cause it can be kind of hard to find iced coffee. And it had lavender in it! It was really good. Afterward, we walked around the city center a bit, then to Santa Croce, a famous church with a gorgeous facade in the city center. We then found this awesome glass shop that had tons of gorgeous earrings and necklaces for sale. I didn’t buy any that day, but I will definitely be going back and buying a pair. We watched the sunset from the sidewalk along the river and then hea...

Thankful for the Weekend

Hello Blog People,      Just a little life update from over here in Florence. I wanted to tell you about my week last week and the fun little weekend trip I took.       Last week was a very chill week. We only had 3 days of classes, and one of our teachers was out so we didn't even have all our classes. It was nice to have a little bit of a break before an actual break lol. In those three days... - I went on a little roommate outing with Fabi and Patricia. We went to McDonalds instead of eating la Mensa one night and it was really good. It just felt nice to spend time with them outside of the room.  - On Tuesday I barely had any classes, so I took myself on a little date day. I went to a local market that's a few tram stops down in Dalmazia, looking for a few Christmas presents. Then I took the tram to another market, the biggest one in Florence, in an area that I had never been to before. This market was HUGE and was located in a park alon...

Quick Little Update

Hello Blog People! It's been a long time since I've written. I'm sorry. Honestly, I'm a week late on trips that I've taken, and I promise I'm working on the Siena trip and it should be up soon. I just wanted to give a little update on my life from the past few weeks. So here are the bullet points.  - The school chaplain is gone for a few weeks. He is in the U.S. going to a conference and spending time with his family. I'm excited for him, but that does mean that I have increased responsibilities. I have to play music or find musicians to play for each of the spiritual moments, and I had to help lead our Sabbath school last week. Most people are willing to help out, it's just a matter of finding the people. I cannot wait for a break at the end of the week, even though it won't be super restful because... - Over Thanksgiving break (which we do get here because most of the students are American and they want to make us feel at home) I'm going to a...

Hello Blog People! First off, I'm sorry this is late lolol. The weeks have gotten away from me, and I have a lot to catch up on. But don't worry, I will give you all the details from the past few weeks. First off, we are starting this entry for the week of Oct. 23-27 There isn't much to report from the week. I'll do some quick little bullet points and then get to the fun. - We had a test on that Thursday. As I've said, everyone gets really nervous for tests. We had both a grammar test and a phonetics quiz. Not fun. By the time we had our last class on Thursday, everyone was checked out. No one was paying attention. At one point, we even broke into song and showed our teacher the new song we had been learning in one of the other classes: Old McDonald but in Italian. She looked at us a little stunned and confused. It did make her laugh though.  - It was kinda rainy that week too. It's starting to become winter/fall, which basically means it's wet. I made a li...
