Arrival Day: Thoughts and Pictures

Hey Blog People,

I took notes on my thoughts while traveling to Florence, and I have a ton of pictures. So I thought I would share those. Here ya go!

Thoughts throughout the trip: 
- The trip theme song is I Lived by OneRepublic. Totally encapsulates everything about this adventure. 
- Airplane black tea is pretty good. The pasta and breakfast sandwich was ok.
- United has a great selection of movies: Shrek, LOTR, Harry Potter, In the Heights, Miss Congeniality, Sabrina, Cars 3 (not as good as the original but I'll take it), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, etc. 
- Airplane pillows are awful!
- The whole day seemed surreal. I never cried on the plane which was good. I am just excited. The whole thing seemed most real when I was flying over small French towns and saw the lights from down below. And when I saw the little airplane above Europe on my airplane screen. 
- The Atlantic Ocean is BIG! 
- Window seats are always the move. 
- I love the view from a descending airplane. 
- (while in Zurich) my internal clock is ALL messed up. 
- Starting to encounter people who don't primarily speak enlightened is humbling and a little scary. 
- Uh oh, I may be a sucker for accents. 
- I feel stupid waiting for the English versions of airplane announcements. 
- There's an IKEA by the airport. Good to know. 
- I am ready to find someone that knows what they are doing. I don't like feeling lost or not knowing what to do or where to go next. And not being able to use my phone to communicate is QUITE STRESSFUL. 
- Oh my gosh this campus is beautiful. I cannot believe I'm here.

  Hello Blog People,      One of the highlights of the last semester was my family coming to visit me while I was studying abroad. The fact that they were going to come and see the life I was living there was such good motivation and kept me going in January and February. Those are usually pretty hard and being away from my family is always difficult, but knowing that they would come brought me a lot of comfort. Their general plan was to fly into Rome and visit me in Florence. After a few days, we all traveled to Switzerland for my spring break and then we stay in a small town where my mom has some friends.      On March 21 my family landed in Rome. My First Week (of class!)

 Hello Blog People! I have now finished my first week of classes. There is a lot that has happened, so I will give you bullet points on the most important and interesting things I have encountered thus far.  (Also, I hope you are enjoying this. I enjoy updating you all and would appreciate hearing that you like hearing about it too. Just let me know, and let your/our friends know about it too!) OK, the first week: - SICKNESS : I got sick this week. That was not fun. I started to come down with a cold that has been going around campus on Saturday night (it did not stop me from getting gelato) and by Sunday I was down. I slept in which was nice, but had low energy and a sore throat. I felt a lot better on Tuesday and by Sunday it was gone. I am not surprised that I got sick because honestly, everyone has been getting sick.
