A Social Week

Hello Blog People!
Welcome to the end of another week. I’m so excited to recap this week and let you know what I’ve been doing :) Let’s get to it.

Let’s start with last Sunday (domenica scorsa). I spent the day studying with my friends. This is not super consequential. EXCEPT for the fact that they took me to a new place called The Social Hub and I FELL IN LOVE! You guys! I got so excited, so inspired at this place, I was almost jumping up and down. Let me explain.

One of the open work spaces
The Social Hub is a hotel/extended stay/student housing/co-working space in Florence. They are actually a chain all over Europe with 16 locations and more on the way. They provide tons of facilities, including a gym, rooftop bar and pool, meeting spaces, dedicated desks for remote workers, and just a lot of space for people to come and work together. Some of these facilities are for people who buy memberships or live in the building. There is a Base V Juicery (basically a fancy juice store) mini-location here, plus The Social Hub restaurant and bar. There’s lots of outside seating in a little piazza in the middle of the building. The company itself is also focused on art and creating comfortable environments, so the vibe here is immaculate! It’s just so open and comfy, yet modern and cool. The rooftop bar is free to anyone, and it has a GREAT view of the Duomo and the whole city of Florence. I took some pictures there this week when I went back with one of my other friends. But the biggest thing for me as a student is just that there is a lot of spaces to study. Caffès are not necessarily for comfort and studying here in Florence, so it’s hard to find a place to study with friends and still have space to breathe. But The Social Hub is huge, with lots of tables and couches for people to sit and work. There’s always people walking around, I feel safe, both to study and explore. I love this place so much.(The Social Hub Website)

As soon as I got here, I started researching it. That’s when I found their story, how they started about 12 years ago now, how they have kept growing and building locations all over Europe and still have more, with opening dates as far as 2026. I looked at other locations. I looked into potential jobs and internships here. Wouldn’t it be cool to come back and have a summer internship? Anyway, I have fallen in love with this space and this company. So I will be keeping my eye on it, and we will see what the future brings. Time will tell.

Anyway, this week was kinda chill, but unfortunately so. Our grammar teacher has been sick ALL week, and we had a test on Thursday. The fact we still kept the test was very stressful. I didn’t feel confident on the newer things we learned and didn’t get to review all week. But the not having class really did give me nice little break to sleep in or rest on some days. The test on Thursday went well. I prayed hard over that test, and God helped me get through it. On Wednesday we made orange almond biscotti and it’s was really good and decently easy actually. I will try to make that when I go home. Then Friday (today) has just been a chill day.

I rested this morning. This afternoon I went to the Social Hub again, this time with a different group of friends, who were just as shocked as I was the first time. I have a nice little list of things to do today. I like being productive with my own things on my own time, especially when I am in a productive mood. It makes me feel accomplished.

This weekend should be pretty chill. A LOT of my friends are traveling this weekend. Everyone here seems to have the traveling bug, because trips are being planned left and right. I’m hoping to go on 2-3 trips in the ret of the year, not including Spring Break with my family. I have ideas for Winter Break, but we will see how the planning goes. And how much my bank account will let me travel lolol. I love the traveling opportunities that are here. You can go to so many places, especially on the free weekends when we don’t have school trips. I’m just hoping to take advantage of every opportunity.

Well, that was my week: pretty normal. Thanks for reading and caring about it. I hope you have a great weekend.

Ciao,

        Ellie
